The current rage which is dominating all forums of discussions around the world from Ethics to Ecology,'really cool yaaar' in the words of educated teenagers, is Somatic Cell Nuclear Transfer Technology popularly known as 'cloning'. Last sunday an article on it naturally triggered my imagination, and in order to be abreast with the development in this field of science, took recourse of the world wide web. As minutes turned to hours I completely lost my self in the world of 'chimetic' mice, 'Zita' the super cow, stem cells, embryonic development, IVF process, DNA sequences, genetic disruption, therapeutic cloning etc.

As I was thus engrossed and lost in the fascinating world, and was groping for answers to the man made riddle, the shrill voice of my wife, who was trying to cajole my son engrossed in his books to do some household work, jolted me out of my reverie. A pull at my shoulders and her words - "tamaro dikro tamara jevoj che" instantly made me see light in the dark tunnel. Hey Bingo ! my son like unto me, cloning in my backyard, and I the artitech was totally unaware.

The truth came not from the tombs of information tucked away on the web, but from my wife, who is blissfully ignorant of all the heat and dust that the subject of cloning has raised.

If you go to see it, how very true it is, and from a mumin's perspective I am talking about 'ruhani cloning' and although this subject is too vast and esoteric and my knowledge very limited, the words of Syedna Taher Saifuddin Moula (R.A.) reffering to his illustrious son and heir to the Fatemi Dawat our beloved Aqa Moula (TUS) - INNA HAZAL FATAH ANA VA INAHU .... does full justice to my point and reasoning.

Every mumin parent spares no efforts to see that his children are like unto him, that they grow up to be pleasing in the eyes of our ruhani bawa shafique so much so that one day their beloved children unite with them in akherat. This was one of the irshaad munira of Aqa Moula (TUS) during the Zikra at Karachi in 1404 H where he said that parents who are trying to give higher education to their children, should always ask the question that 'will my child unite with me in akherat'

I do not know if I have been able to convey the import of this question fully, but it surely is the benchmark, the goal of each and every parent, and it is also the duty of each and every mumin child to actively assist by good actions and deeds, and if the actions of both parents and child are complimentary, with the nazarate-raheema and Doa mubarak of Aqa Moula, surely we all will evolve one day into farishta, that is what I consider as 'ruhani cloning'.

Let the materialistic world be after 'harvesting of embryonic stem cells'. Let us follow in the footsteps of our Moula and show the world that we mumineen are more concerned with the development of the other world (akherat) consciousness, which has been emphasized over and over again in the letter and spirit of the Quran, in the sayings of Nabi, Vasi, Imams and Doat Mutlaqeens and in our times by Aqa Moula (TUS)

I hope the ever growing young talented web serfing community will try to look at things from our very own Fatemi uloom perspective, and safeguard themselves, for in truth, these are difficult times and it is a jungle out there on the world wide web.

May Allah grant my beloved Aqa Moula (TUS) sehato -afiyaat - ta- kiyamat. Ameen.
