BETTER BUSINESS PRACTICES - A TALK

LIVELIHOOD - ALLAH KNOWS BEST
(Sherullah introspection)

Livelihood is governed by the dual force of
  • Divine ordainment
  • Human effort

If livelihood was only the result of human effort, man because of his inherent nature will surely become indulgent of his own powers and likely to forget Allah. So Allah in His Wisdom has made Divine ordainment of livelihood, in order to create a healthy balance, and restrain the nature of man from going asunder.

Man’s greed and avarice is compared to excess of rain, which ruins crops instead of giving a good harvest . Materialistic abundance and creature comforts tend to make man oblivious of Allah and rouse him to revolt and unruliness. History is so full of such people who revolted and got way laid from the path of truth because of their wealth.

‘And should Allah amplify the sustenance unto his servants, they would certainly rebel in the earth, but He sends it down by measure as He Willeth; verily of his servants, he is All Aware, All Seeing. ‘ (Ash-Shura – 42:27)

In the riwayat of Musa Nabi (S.A.) is to be found a good example. When Musa (S.A.) approached the Pharaoh wearing coarse woolen shirt and a stick in hand, and told him to submit to Allah, in order to enjoy the continuity of his kingdom, his riches and his honor. The Pharaoh mocked him and his Vasi for coming to him in coarse woolen shirts, without any gold ornaments upon their person. He felt proud of his abundance of gold and wealth. His haughtiness was the result of his ruin.

At times wealth produces inconveniences, whilst poverty serves as a guard for high moral character. There are many in this world, who live a more satisfied and contended life, and are happy for the lack of wealth. For them this meager livelihood would be far better than wealth, which might snatch away their comfort and peace.

In this Sherullah Munajaat Sharifa Aqa Moula (TUS) beautifully articulates his feeling and longing and seeks for us mumineens from Allah’s fazal ‘rizq’ that will give us peace of mind and ease.
    ‘ Ay’a Rab’banaqsim be-fazleka rizkan murihan…..’ (Aby’at 10)

It has been observed in many instances that, so long as wealth was lacking, character was above reproach, life was peaceful and unblemished, but the moment property and wealth changed into plenty, the conduct worsened, character was compromised, and inner tensions and conflicts corroded the mind, soul and body.

It is our belief that ‘rizq’ is a Divine ordainment and at the same time we have to make an effort to seek it. We have to make a sincere effort to earn livelihood, you have to be true to yourself, however, in spite of your best efforts, if livelihood and abundance that you seek, is not realized – INTROSPECT - and you will surely realize that Allah wants it that way, so that He is guarding you from the vices of plenty, protecting your character and giving you the bounty of peace and contentment of life.

Instead of going into depression for lack of wealth, lack of business or whatever, or frequently seeking psychiatric consultations for problems of plenty, we mumineen should seeks Allah’s fazal as exhorted in Quran ‘ …and ask Allah of His Bounty, surely Allah is Ever All –Knowing.’ An –Nisa (4:32)

So when the chips are down, we should not run hither thither but seek Allah s fazal and Aqa Moula ‘s doa mubarak. We should beseech Him to grant from His Bounties and change our destinies.

Seek from Him, if you get what you seek, better for you, and even if you do not get what you seek, be convinced it is better for you. For Allah Knows what your know not.

    ALLAH KNOWS BEST.

May Allah grant our beloved Aqa Moula (TUS) sehato a'fiyat-ta-kiyamat. Ameen.
